Conservation InSight would like to proudly voice our commitment to stand by our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program despite pressure from the federal government for NGOs and American corporations to eliminate their DEI policies. We will continue to be a voice for inclusivity in all aspects of our organization despite these pressures.
Conservation Insight continues to stand by the movement of Black Lives Matter and the positive changes in our society that we began to see over the past several years. We commit to continuing to listen, learn, and enact change until our society and country overcomes systemic injustice towards all people of color. We recognize that people of color are underrepresented in the field of conservation, and we have a responsibility to work to change this.
Among our first steps,
- We will continue to seek out and create opportunities to change the field of ecology and conservation to include and encourage participation on all levels by people of all races.
- We will continue our own learning about the interconnectedness of race, class, and environmental justice.
- We will modify our hiring practices to minimize implicit bias.
- We will continue our work to be anti-racists within our field and commit to increasing awareness of systemic racism and bias as we collaborate with others.
